‘Starting the new year with a word
It has become a new year habit for me to choose a new word that I explore and hold close to me throughout the year. In the past this has included create and believe. Last year I carried with me open. Although at times I felt I had not really connected with this word, when reflecting back over my year, it was more powerful in my life than I had realised.
So what does this year hold? That’s something none of us can ever know and as I let go of trying to control every part of my life and embrace what I learnt from Welcoming the word open into my life, I am continuing this journey of letting things happen as they are. Listen therefore came to me as my word for 2023.
How am I connecting with the word Listen?
I am trying to explore Listening to my body and my mind especially when I need to slow down. This is something I can easily struggle with. I hope to take time to listen and return inwards when the overwhelm of life takes over.
On a practical sense, it is about noticing what I am listening to and Asking myself What is it I am needing to listen to. Exploring What do I let into my life, and therefore what am I internalising in the process.
My intentions
I will explore this word as I connect with it over the next 12 months along with the one little word community. This community led by Ali Edwards is a incredible group of inspirational people who are focused on connecting with a word. Some years I connect with my word without the prompts in this community but this year I will be following along with the prompts shared with this class.
As I set my intentions for this year and my word, I am open to where my word and on a wider scale, where my life is going to take me. Letting go of trying to have all the answers. I am ready to listen.
